The Summer Reading Challenge for 2018 is called Mischief Makers in honour of the much-loved children’s title Beano, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.
Children will follow clues and explore a map of Beanotown to find the mysterious buried treasure, with the help of Dennis, Gnasher and friends. As well as keeping up with their reading, children will enjoy becoming ultimate mischief makers, collecting stickers and having lots of fun and adventures along the way!
The Summer Reading Challenge is happening at libraries across the country. Children aged 4 to 11 are invited to take part, from 14 July to 15 September (most libraries in Scotland began the Challenge on 23rd June).
Sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part!
Mischief Makers will celebrate adventure, friendship, reading and fun and is a must for all children who want to live in the moment and be themselves. View the trailer and find out more about the Challenge on the Reading Agency website.
The perfect read for mischief makers everywhere.
The Mystery of the Disappearing Underpants is the ideal choice for the Summer Reading Challenge 2018. Friends, Harry, James and Stacey set up a secret agency for the summer holidays to try to solve mysteries and get more than they bargained for in this fun, warm and ultimately dramatic tale about friendship and adventure. Available to borrow from Kent libraries, The Mystery of the Disappearing Underpants is also available to buy online or from your local bookstore.
Join me at Sevenoaks Library!
I’ll be at Sevenoaks Library on Friday 27th July, from 10 a.m. signing copies of my new book, Time School: We Will Remember Them. Come and see me and let me know how you’re getting on with the Summer Reading Challenge. I will have copies of both my books available to buy, if you haven’t got one already.
