“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know which one you’re gonna get.”
Remember who said that?
It was Forrest Gump. I love that film don’t you? I find it impossible to say that quote, though, without adding the southern lilt (even if it’s in my head).
I love the idea of comparing something that is abstract with something concrete, so I couldn’t resist the challenge to come up with my own:
“Life is like a good cheese. It may stink at times, but it gets better with age.”
What do you think? Is it true? I do find maturity has many benefits, if you take out the aches and pains, of course, but I’m certainly a lot more content and happy in myself than I’ve ever been.
And happiness is important isn’t it? It’s dependent on so many things, but it starts from within, that’s a fact. It’s something I’ve come to realise and appreciate, the older I’ve become.
I did some digging around and found this quote about happiness:
“Happiness is like jam. You can’t spread even a little without getting some on yourself”
Author unknown.
The foodie theme I’ve got going on here was completely accidental, by the way, although subconsciously, it might not have been. Food has always played such an important part in my life, and not just from a need-to-eat-to-survive point of view. It represents family time (then and now) and childhood memories. It was a shared interest of cooking and creating new recipes, with my dad. It’s Enid Blyton books and trips to Italy, but more recently, a quest for health.
Anyway, here’s my attempt:
“Happiness is like a good bottle of red wine. Something to be shared, savoured and enjoyed.”
Perhaps it’s no coincidence that I picked cheese and wine to represent life and happiness. The two, after all, go to together so well!
What represents life and happiness for you?
